Quote Your Neighbors on Wednesday

I joined this group a little bit back that does what it says on the tin -- you're supposed to quote one of your neighbors on Wednesday. So, today, it's Pooka's turn.

  As mentioned I will be moving to Las Vegas, Nevada soon (in three weeks) and I am very excited about it!  The sad thing is though that I will not be able to come home for Christmas to be with my family.  I will have started too soon to take vacation home three months later and also November-February is blacked out for everyone to take vacation in the company this year for the opening of the new hotel.  It will not just be me so I am not too upset if you know what I mean?  It will be well worth it, the new job that is.  I am excited for the change of scene, drive there, new apartment, Pookie (dog) coming with me, and of course working for a wonderful lady who offered me the opportunity/job.

She blogs quite a bit about her everyday life. She loves movies and Pullips and her family. I recommend checking her out if you want to peek into someone else's life for a little bit! :)

My Worst Blogging Habit

Aside from going months without posts and then flooding in a week (which I am trying to do better on now :D), my worst blogging habit has got to be comments.

I love to get them. Nothing brightens my day up like a comment, no matter how short or simple. But...

But then I hardly ever reply! I'm sorry. I really, really should. But it's so easy to just...not! I really do read them, absolutely every one, but I'm horrible at actually saying things back.

I'm going to try to do better in the future! I promise! I'm going to go back to the duct tape one soon (can't believe that got on the life is good page :O but that's another post) and work on replying to every single comment I haven't replied to yet. :) My computer was acting up when I tried to do it earlier.

This time I'll make it work. ^_^

Louis and Lola

Last week (well, the week before, but not too long ago) I got two dolls in the mail -- Louis and Lola. Louis is a slightly-customized Horizon -- he has Papin's eyechips! ^_^ The purple is a very nice color and helps the pink in his hair to not be so jarring against his grey faceup. His original eyes were a metallic grey.

He's got some other clothes (not his stock) but I love a man in a suit. I put  this on after his picfic and it hasn't been off of him since. ^_^ Mmmmmmm. I also knitted him a hat and scarf -- I'll probably post pictures of those later. I haven't put  them on the internet yet. The hat is kinda sucky, but the scarf turned out nice.

And now, Lola! Lola is Flower Childe, the doll originally created by DGRequiem of RequiemArt.com to auction off for charity. She fetched a nice price and came home with me. :) She's very gorgeous and despite her bright colors still comes off to me as more mature than Miss Kitty White or Cardea. I still can't believe I have four dolls!

Originally she was going  to be Carbine's stepmom. I still haven't decided. She's definitely older (27?) and she loooooves the retro stuff. She calls everyone "Darling" and is quite glamourous.  I'm actively looking for more mod clothes, so if you have any for sale, drop me a line!

Duct Tape Prom Debriefing

It was really fun to wear duct tape to prom. Tons of people were really impressed. The biggest comment I got was "wow, you actually did it!" (Like I wouldn't carry duct tape around for two months and work on it in class WITHOUT wearing it?) It wasn't terribly hard to wear, but sitting made it wrinkly. :( The bow turned out fantastic. I didn't overheat at all thanks to the cloth lining and hoopskirt. :D

All in all, pretty cool. My hair and makeup turned out fantastic. My makeup was done by myself, but the hair was professionally done. Woohoo!

My only regret is not getting better pictures of my date's hat and tie. The tie later had colored stripes added to it so it would match more (it was originally made for something totally different). I also forgot to put on my duct tape necklace, but that wasn't too big of an issue.

Visiting my family/soon-to-be roommate
Being nicer to people in general and not talking so much
Getting all my scholarship papers in order

I want a new Talkbits but I dunno when I will be doing that. I kinda don't know exactly where my video camera charger is.

Also my camera broke but I got a new one before I went to this little first-year con called AniMix. It was pretty awesome for a first-year con! Maybe I will show some pictures. yeah right i suck at updating.

Things I wish Vox had:

Image support without me having to upload and fiddle with settings. For most of the time I like the way Vox's picture settings work. Then the other half I'm just like "ARGH CAN'T I PASTE A .JPG LINK FROM PHOTOBUCKET ALREADY".

Drafting support. 'cause it kinda sucks to have to switch to "viewable by no one at all ever" if I want to stop midway through a post and go do other things with my internet.

PREVIEW SUPPORT. It is so freaking hard to actually try to figure out how pictures will actually lay out -- especially when I'm trying to add copy to particular pictures all in a column. I have to try to work out how to make the text line up with the photos through a tedious process of saving and editing. Argh argh argh. See the Pullip Profile one for an example.

OFFLINE POST EDITOR oh man I would love that so much. I like to organize my thoughts so you don't end up with posts like this one. Plus then I can write up a lot at one writey time and post them all over a long period of time! ^_^ Yay!

OTHER CRAP woohoo

I won Flower Childe. IKNOWRIGHT. So crazy. She is gorgeous (her eyes are so pretty and vibrant) and I'm really loving the way she looks. Her new/final name is Lola and I am not sure if she is really CArbine's stepmom or not but she is totally a fan of the kids. Woo. Also she says Darling a lot!

Also I have a Taeyang now! Horizon. He's so gorgeous in person although he's got a little blue  dot on his nose I have to fix. It doesn't bug me too much though. His name is Louis J. Vinz. The J is a secret.

so hey right I am totally going on a trip next week! I have a laptop now so I'll try to post a little bit (or at least get some crap written up so I can post later).

Other things I am currently fascinated by include makeup and my kitty. She's so soft and fuzzy! aww.

Profiles? of MY Pullips? It's more likely than you think!

Well, I haven't posted about Pullips in a while, so here's a recap of my current dollies and their personalities:

Cardea Rialai: She's very quiet and shy. She has long brown hair that curls at the end. She loves exotic teas and books, and works in a bookshop. Someday she hopes to write her own novel. (Cardea is actually a character at the Suburban Senshi Chatbox -- she has a second life as a personal senshi. Her wiki page is here.)


She is Kitty White's roommate. They live in Azabu-Juuban, Tokyo, Japan.

Carbine White is Kitty White's cousin and a brat. Although she doesn't live with Kitty and Cardea, she visits occasionally, and is tolerated at best. She has a posse of 17 friends and likes to take them around uninvited. For a little kid (between 8 and 10 years old) she's really good at riding her Vespa. Right now she's irked because she tied for second in the Miss World Domination pageant -- but she vows revenge, and will be back (next year).

Miss Kitty White is the star of the show (or would be if this were a show). She is a happy, sweet, friendly teenager who loves to meet new people and have fun with her friends. She's not very good at cooking, so Cardea does most of that. She's seemingly very rich -- she pays all the rent on the apartment and still has enough money to buy herself Lolita clothes like mad. She loves sweet lolita the best. Normally her hair is long, blonde, and wavy, but sometimes she puts it up in ringlets. She likes wearing a bobbed white wig sometimes, too -- it makes her feel modern. She also loves Hello Kitty.

(Miss Kitty White has also appeared in the Chatbox. However, she still knows nothing about what Cardea does outside of the bookstore. Her wiki page is here.)



Why did I post this? Because I need to figure out how Horizon fits in, and I think I may get another doll -- for charity, for charity! She's a gorgeous custom by Requiem named Flower Childe. (Check out the rest of the pictures!)  She's a 60's flower girl -- I've already figured out how she'd fit in. If I can get lucky enough to win the auction, she would be about 26 years old, and Carbine's stepmom. She'd be really nice, a little bit ditzy, and totally crazy about kids so she doesn't notice that Carbine's a brat. Oh, and she dreams of being a Bond girl! She loves the 60s and thinks she was born in the wrong era. She absolutely loves the earth, thinks global warming is despicable, and lives as green a life as possible.

Yeah, I really shouldn't get my hopes up about winning her, but at least I'll feel better about my maximum bid being high -- the proceeds are going to charity, and one I very much approve of. Foster Parrots is a bird rescue, adoption, and sanctuary facility. I really can't sum up how much they do in a few sentences -- I suggest reading their mission statement page to understand what they do and why they do it. Parrots are highly intelligent animals and are often treated like feathered hamsters. If you ever want to buy a pet bird, please make sure you know what you're getting into!!

Wish me luck on the Flower Childe auction -- I may be going up against some tough competition. ;) If I don't win, though, I think I'll still make a donation to Foster Parrots. They're an amazing group.

IN WHICH I babble on for thirteen minutes. It's mildly entertaining, I suppose, and there IS a special thing that can be seen only in the video... ;D

Take a good look at my hair when I turn my head -- you might be able to see flashes of purple. I've dyed my hair (I had chunky streaks of blonde put in a few weeks ago and so they picked up the purple best) and I'm really having fun with it. Hopefully I'll have better pictures soon but uh...I lost my camera again. =D;;Is it sad when I have a tag just for that?
